| Design focus of the HEDGEHOG series, simply stated, is in the hookset. Unlike the Original DESTROYER series, which is designed to optimize the characteristics of high modulus graphite, the Stinger Tip is designed to produce initial hook-setting torque at the tip instead of mid section of the blank. The HEDGEHOG series allows you spontaneous hookset without sacrificing sensitivity because the Stinger Tip is not solid but tubular. The Stinger Tip is designed to transform your experience of hookset. There are currently 6 models to choose from.
F4ST-61XS Stinger (Ultra Extra Fast = Stinger Tip, 1/16-5/8 oz., 5-17 lbs.)
This is a spinning rod. The Stinger, when used for drop-shot rig, will add another dimension to your sensory experience. This rod is also excellent for jerking small minnows and crankbait.
F5ST-60XS BlackOut (Ultra Extra Fast = Stinger Tip, 1/16-3/4 oz., 5-17 lbs.)
This rod is also for spinning but with more force. The BlackOut is designed to deal with the monsters that lurk in the deep or around lay downs in shallow water. That is why in all Destroyer spinning models the BlackOut has the highest F-number.
F1ST-66RS Saratoga (Ultra Extra Fast = Stinger Tip, 1/32-1/8 oz., 3-8 lbs.)
This is one of the two ‘RS’ spinning rods with the Stinger Tip. The RS rods, unlike the other 3 regular Hedgehogs which are base on the BRAIDED HIGH MODULUS GRAHITE blanks, are based on entirely new blanks called RARE METAL LOW MODULUS GRAPHITE. If high modulus carbon rods are to be characterized as ‘high-tensioned’ and ‘responsive’, then perhaps low modulus carbon blanks should be ‘slow’ and ‘forgiving’. But with rare metal, our low modulus blanks transmit vibration more immediately than mere low modulus blanks. Another difference is the aluminum reel seat called STEALTH FIT HOUSING, which is used in all of the regular spinning rod series. This reel seat sits directly on the blank to transmit information real time to your hand. The Saratoga and the Catskill are for the ultimate finesse fishing when fish are so cautious and spooky. F2ST-65RS Catskill (Ultra Extra Fast = Stinger Tip, 1/32-1/4 oz., 3-10 lbs.)
The Catskill is designed to cover heavier applications than the Saratoga.
Based on F3-610XS Orochi, Orochi Evolution’s blank is a
combination of RS and DNA Double Helix Titanium. This allows you to cast as
light as 1/16 oz bait, yet the rod has acquired the sensitivity of metal,
thanks to titanium and rare metal composite layered on the low modulus
graphite carbon blank. There is also the image of a snake meticulously
worked into the blank material between the reel seat and the grip-end. This
is a truly extraordinary rod.
